Joe Smith, “How to Use One Paper Towel”

Before Watching:

  • Does a persuasive speech have to be loaded with information to be effective? How much information is too much or too little?
  • When demonstrating a procedure, simplicity, repetition, and organization are key. While watching this speech, critique all three.

After Watching:

  • Was the demonstrated procedure simple and clear enough? Was the use of repetition effective?
  • How did he introduce the speech? Why do you think he made that choice?
  • Did he benefit from using audience participation?
  • What did he intend to persuade his audience to think or do? Was his argument effective?
