Self-Introduction Speech Exercise

This speech is a good exercise for beginning your learning in public speaking. Perform it in front of your class or teacher to help them get to know you better and help you practice your English.

Instructions:

On a piece of paper, prepare complete sentence answers to the following questions:

  1. What is your name?
  2. What is your hometown?
  3. What are two things about you that make you special or unique?
  4. What do you like most in life?
  5. What do you want to learn about in school?
  6. What job do you want to have more than any other?
  7. What do you want other people to say about you?
  8. What is the best thing you have ever seen?

After you answer all of these questions, find two of your classmates and ask them two of the questions that you think are the most interesting. After listening to their answers, sit down and wait for everyone to be finished.

Then, one by one, you and everyone in the class will perform your answers in front of the class.

Example answers:

  1. What is your name?
    Frank Bo.
  2. What is your hometown?
    Chengdu, China.
  3. What are two things about you that make you special or unique?
    I am a very fast runner. I also have very good taste in clothes.
  4. What do you like most in life?
    I like meeting new people and making friends.
  5. What do you want to learn about in school?
    I want to learn how to design websites.
  6. What job do you want to have more than any other?
    I would love to be a graphic designer for Apple.
  7. What do you want other people to say about you?
    I want other people to say that I am a friendly and kind person.
  8. What is the best thing you have ever seen?
    The sunset over Bondi Beach in Australia.
